Airbnb is leaning heavily into its unique stay thing. It’s been unveiling one-off stays and experiences in a number of highly themed or event-specific venues for a few years now but has now made it an almost weekly aspect of its site.
I’m not inclined to share every one of them, but this one is pretty damn cool.

Watch the Olympic Opening Ceremony from the Musee d’Orsay
Thirty guests will have the opportunity to watch the much-anticipated opening ceremony for this year’s Olympic Games from the Musee d’Orsay’s terrace. Departing from tradition, the event will take place on the Seine instead of a stadium. This year’s event is hosted by Mathieu Lehanneur, the designer of this year’s Olympic cauldron and torch.
What’s included?
The entire experience runs until 1 AM on the night of the ceremony and includes:
- An exclusive tour of the Musée d’Orsay, home to the world’s largest collection of Impressionist art
- An incredible view of the boats and 10,500 Olympic athletes as they make their way down the Seine
- A tasting workshop and refreshments by Margot LeCarpentier, named Paris’s “most influential bartender” by the World’s Best Bar list in 2020
- Light bites inspired by French flavors
- A DJ set by Kirou, founder of the Paris-based art and music collective 99GINGER, creating a lively and festive atmosphere
- Access to the designs of Mathieu Lehanneur, including the Olympic Torch of Paris 2024
What are the details?
This isn’t technically a competition. All you need to do is book the event on June 13 at 3 p.m. CET. It’s a matter of who is quickest off the mark. Only 30 guests will make it. It won’t cost a penny for the successful few, but your travel and accommodation in Paris are not included. You need to make sure you can be there on July 27, 2024.
