Instagram introduced significant update to DM

Instagram has introduced a significant update to its direct messaging (DM) system, rolling out globally on iOS and Android devices. The update includes several new features aimed at improving communication and user experience:

Key Features of the Update

Message Translation

Users can now translate messages directly within chats, supporting 99 languages. To translate, simply hold down on a message and select the “Translate” option. The translated text will appear below the original message, making cross-language communication seamless.

Message Scheduling

Instagram now allows users to schedule messages up to 29 days in advance. To use this feature, type your message, long-press the send button, and select a date and time for delivery. This functionality is particularly useful for planning reminders or sending messages at specific times.

Pinned Messages

Users can pin up to three messages at the top of their chats for easy access. This feature works for both one-on-one and group chats and is ideal for keeping important information or favorite memes readily visible.

Music Sharing

A new music-sharing feature lets users send 30-second previews of songs from Instagram’s audio library directly in DMs. Accessed via the sticker tray, this feature allows users to share tracks without leaving the app, enhancing social interaction around music.

Group Chat QR Codes

Inviting others to group chats has been simplified with the introduction of QR codes. Users can generate a unique QR code for their group chat, which others can scan to join instantly.

Availability

These features are currently available on iOS and Android platforms worldwide, with web access expected to follow later. The update reflects Instagram’s effort to make its messaging system more competitive with platforms like Apple iMessage while fostering better engagement among users.

This update not only enhances convenience but also opens up new possibilities for global communication, music discovery, and group interactions on Instagram.
