In good spirits and from the kindness of its hub, Spirit Airlines has updated its policies, raising the checked baggage weight limit and simplifying the use of travel vouchers to make its policies more flexible for all travelers. This is music to our ears!
The new policies now allow travelers to check bags weighing up to 50 pounds, an increase from the previous 40-pound limit, although fees for both carry-on and checked luggage still apply. Additionally, the airline will extend the validity of future travel vouchers from 90 days to 12 months for vouchers issued on or after June 3.
These new changes come just weeks after Spirit ditched change and cancellation fees. Previously, the airline charged up to $119 to modify a flight. Now, travelers only need to pay the fare difference if the new flight is more expensive or receive a credit if the new trip costs less. Thank you, Spirit. Sincerely, everyone.
